Very solid article on the meaning of Abba.

Tasty Tip #10: One time you shouldn’t practice (by worshipartistry)

This would be an awesome poster and I want it! (via The Adventures of Dr. McNinja » Archive » 25p104)

“In our very mobile society, where people rarely stay put for long, you shouldn’t be surprised when a Christian stumbles through your church’s front door carrying baggage full of junk from his past. In caring for the hurting sheep, a pastor can go it alone, with nothing but what the new member tells him, or he can informally cooperate with another pastor to better care for this sheep.”

Instead, we need to look at the evidence. I believe, and there is a great amount of supporting evidence to verify it, that the stories in the Bible are true.

Just look at the event called Easter, recently celebrated around the world by more than 2 billion people. Is the resurrection of Jesus Christ a nice story that communicates some allegorical message or is (and was) it a true historical event?

What Is the Purpose of Fasting? (Episode 72):

Fasting is a physical exclamation point at the end of the sentence, “I need you. I want you. I long for you. You are my treasure. I want more of you. And, oh, for the day when you would return. Maranatha, come, Lord Jesus!” Fasting is the exclamation point at the end of all those sentences… . I think fasting is not only a positive statement, but it is also a negative way of exposing latent idolatries. When I am not being medicated by food what comes out of my heart? Anger? Lust? The need for television, and more and more of it, or something like that? People need to know what is at the bottom.

“In general, the biggest things that will help you in a new city are being open to friendships and opportunities wherever you go, and then following up and making concrete plans. I’m an introvert by nature, so when I’m invited to events or get-togethers, my gut instinct is usually to say no. I’ve had to pull myself out of that shell and change my default answer to yes. I very rarely regret it. Put yourself out there by getting out and about around town on a regular basis, be patient, say yes, and over time, you’ll have a great new group of friends.”

Really great advice for those suffering, like me, with terrible allergies this Spring.
